Color Change

My parents gave me this shelf for my little girls's room.  The main color in the bedroom is turquoise blue... so I repainted the edges to match.  Easy Peasy.

I'm doing an awful lot of work in my little girls's room.  I'll show pictures when I'm done.  ☺

Toddler Handprints

Earlier this week I made a canvas painting of my baby's handprints, yesterday I made another one of my older daughter.  We had a lot of fun.

I started by painting the canvas an Ivory color,

Then she got to play in the paint.  She doesn't like gooey things and couldn't understand why I wanted her to do this, but she sure loved making her handprints on the canvas.

One color after the other.

I still need to paint her name and date on it, then it'll be hung in her room.  When she grows up, the painting will become mine, and IF I ever get a craft room.  I'll hang it in there.

Take Me To the Seashore Part 2

This project took me a little longer than I had planned.  I just couldn't sell myself on the layout, so for anyone waiting in anticipation for this post, Sorry!  Here it is.

I started with the sanddollars I already had, I bought a board, painted it, then I used a slightly lighter color to add some streaks to the board.  I used my silhouette to cut the letters out in vinyl.  Then I glued my sanddollars on.  It was a really simple project.  The hardest part was choosing a layout that I was happy with.

I hung this project and the poem from "Take Me To The Seashore Part 1" in the "kids' bathroom".

I only wish I could have hung them in the master bathroom.  Unfortunately I recently painted it dark green, and the colors just don't mix very well.  So maybe in my next house. ☺

Baby Handprints

Sometimes you get impatient
Because I am so small
And always leave my handprints
On the furniture and the wall.

But every day I'm growing
And I'll be big someday
And all those tiny handprints
Will have been washed away.

So here's a lasting handprint
Just so you can recall
The way my little fingers looked
When I was very small.

I made a handprint painting with my littlest girl the other day.  I was a lot of fun.
We had a 92° day on Sunday!  It was AMAZING!
We took advantage and went outside and got paint all over Daddy's nice green grass.  ☺

I started with this:
An 8x8" white canvas

I added a little bit of this:

And a little bit of this:

And I got this:

I think it's pretty fun.  After the picture I painted my daughters name and date on the bottom, then I hung it in my daughters room right above her crib.  I plan on keeping this for the rest of my life.

I'll be doing one with my toddler in upcoming days too.

Hole Punched Greeting Cards

How To Make a Hole Punched Greeting Card:

First, get your card.

You can cut your own out of cardstock, or you can purchase a blank one.
Next print the words you want to appear on the front of your card onto a piece of white paper.  Tape the paper on the inside of the card.  (Make sure you position it right so the punches will appear on the front and not upside down on the back ☺)

Next, take a thumbtack or a pin and punch little holes around the outside of each letter.  (Place a cardboard box or a corkboard underneath so you don't ruin your table or counter surface.)
The front of the card should look like this when you're done.

Growing Old is Mandatory
Happy Birthday

I used my Silhouette to finish off the inside of the green card:
Growing Old is Mandatory,
Growing Up is Optional.
As always I put my little signature on the back with my Silhouette.

One piece of advice: choose a short saying.  After about 10 letters, your hand starts to hurt!

Take Me To The Seashore.... Part 1

This post is part one of a two part series.  I am super excited about this project, the idea came to me the other night.  I was in my bathroom getting ready for bed, feeling kinda down on my luck.  Out of the corner of my eye I saw the little basket sitting on my sink, it's full of A LOT these:

My husband and I collected these sanddollars when we lived in Seattle three years ago.
We spent Thanksgiving that year on the beach in Westport, Washington.  Watching the ocean, walking in the sand and collecting as many of these as we could.  It was one of the best days of my life.

All I could think about in that moment was how much I wished I could be sitting on the beach in Westport Washington, without a care in the world.  Nothing on my mind except for myself and the man I love.

When I woke up from my little daydream I had an idea.  I finished the first part this morning and I hope to finish the second part late late tonight, or tomorrow.

I started by writing a poem (an old hobby of mine, something I haven't done in about 6 years.)  I'm rather amazed how quickly it came to me.
I typed it up in my Silhouette program and printed it out with the blue glitter Sketch Pen.
I love the way it turned out.

I'm not sure how well you can read it.
It reads:

Seashore

Take me to the Seashore
So we can bury our toes in the sand
Take me for a walk on the Seashore
So we can watch the ocean, hand in hand

Set me on a bench at the Seashore
Let us watch the sun fade;
Kiss me gently on the Seashore
Forever cherish the love we've made.

Let us stay all day at the Seashore
Watching waves on the beach as they play
Oh, take me to the Seashore
Let our troubles wash away.

(the above poem is my own work, so please show consideration and don't use it without my permission.  Thanks.)

Next I went to Michaels, and purchased an unfinished wooden frame and finishing kit for it.
I stained it (to match the wooden shelf my husband made in this post.)

Hammered in the hanging hardware

Put my mat and poem inside and hung it on the wall.

Anyway this is part one, part two coming soon!

An Apology

I thought I should apologize for falling off the face of the earth for the last few months. I wish I had a good excuse, but sadly I do not. I have been lazy and haven't been doing anything super exciting. After feeling much guilt looking at all the amazing posts Holli has made ;) I decided I need to get back on the ball and start posting again....even if it is boring stuff :)! So I posted 3 new things tonight and will hopefully have a few more posts in the next week or so. Wish me luck!
